Dear parents and friends,
Term 2 is coming to a very quick end. Teachers are presently completing reports. Reports will be available on Compass from Friday 27th June.
There have been some changes with reports in 2025. Earlier in the year information was sent out about the academic report changes. The below is a short reminder of the changes.
- The Learning Areas Comments have been removed. Instead, report cards will contain a Learning Area Statement outlining the key learning undertaken for the semester.
- Application to Learning refers to the students' effort in learning and completing tasks to the best of their ability. It reflects how the student responds to the feedback and demonstrates interest in their learning. This is reported on a 4-point scale: Needs Attention, Satisfactory, Very Good, Excellent.
- A statement indicates that the Working With or C achievement level is the expected end-of-year achievement standard. This level of achievement is highlighted in the explanation.
- In Prep, students are assessed and reported against the English, Mathematics, Health and Physical Education, and Religion achievement standards. The other learning areas are taught; however, they are not reported on.
- One general comment personalised by the class teacher is included at the end of the report.
If you have any questions about your child’s report could you please contact your classroom teacher. Parent and Teacher interviews have been set for Term 3 Week 7 Monday 25th August - Thursday 29th August but parents are always welcome to make an interview time by either emailing their class teacher or ringing the front office - 47822030
RISE
Staff have been reviewing our Behaviour motor - RISE and it has been decided to truly reflect our catholic ethos our Behaviour motto will be
Respect
Inspire
Serve (instead of safe)
Effort
This shows how we are different from a state school and how we as a school believe that we are a place where the whole person is developed academically, socially and also spiritually.
Our school mission statement calls us to be an inclusive school where students serve others so that they may have life and have it in abundance. By doing this we believe that St Colman's school will help it’s students become lifelong learners who share their gifts with the world.
Mission Statement
St Colman’s Catholic School lives Jesus’ mission to serve others so that they “may have life, and have it in abundance” (Jn.10;10) by fostering the Mercy values of respect, courage and service.
In a nurturing and inclusive environment, students are inspired to be confident lifelong learners who share their gifts with the world.
Staff have developed statements that will help the students learn and live these.

What this means at St Colman's | We show respect through our words, actions and attitudes | Like Jesus we inspire others with our words and actions | We serve by using our gifts and skills to help others | We give 100% effort in all that we do to ensure that we live our life to the fullest |
Catherine McAuley (The founder of the Mercy Sisters) |
Treat everyone you meet as if they were Jesus in disguise | Our hearts can always be in the same place, centered on God | Find joy in serving others | We must strive to do ordinary things extraordinarily well |
Scripture |
So in everything do to others what you would have them do to you. Matthew 7:12 |
Let your light shine before others Matthew 5:16 |
Serve one another with whatever gift each of you has received. First Letter of Peter 4:10 |
Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, Colossians 3:23 |
Symbol |
Hands love heart |
Candle/lighthouse | Hands intertwined | Figure pushing or going up a hill |
In Year 5&6, the students have also identified a need for them to go out and serve the community. We have now been able to form a relationship with Regis Home Hill Nursing Home. Four times a term, a class will visit the residence and complete activities with them e.g. playing board games, reading books together.
Our new date for School photos is Friday, June 20th. Everyone who was in attendance on the Friday 23rd had their individual photos taken. For those who missed out, this will be caught up next week 20th June, along with Sibling and Class photos.
