      Dear Parents and Friends,

Wow, another term is almost at the end !

The last two weeks of Term 3 are very busy as well. On Tuesday St Colman’s School will focus on National Child Protection Week. The objectives of Child Protection Week is to raise the profile of all issues connected with child protection, including child abuse prevention, treatment, research, education, service provision and support for children, young people and families.

All our students will be taking part in Australia's Biggest Child Safety lesson. This lesson which is coordinated by the Daniel Morcombe foundation is live streamed and will teach early primary years – aged 4 to 7 –  about enthusiastic consent, and upper primary years – aged 8 to 12 – affirmative consent. I encourage you to have a look at the website as it has some wonderful resources.

CSP - Deb of the Year

Thank you to all the parents that helped at Deb of the Year, especially those who came at the last minute. This was a wonderful event organised by our fantastic team of CSP volunteers.  Congratulations to our 31 Debutantes and their partners.  They all looked so beautiful and grown up.

      Junior Indigenous Youth Parliament

Last Thursday Jace Duncan attended the Junior Indigenous Youth Parliament in Townsville with Auty Judy and members of Jace's family.  From all accounts Jace spoke really well in front of the Youth Parliament and he and Aunty Judy were lucky to meet members of the Melbourne Storm NRL team who played the Cowboys that night.  Congratulations and well done Jace.

A new mural at St Colman's School

Next week we welcome Lavinia Letheby, a professional Fine Art Visual artist who creates two-dimensional art pieces in varying mediums and surfaces. Her passion is in large scale public art pieces and the creation of fine art pieces.

Lavinia will be working with our students to create a new mural (replacing the farm mural near the concrete steps.) Every child will complete a part of the mural and learn about different elements of painting. Watch this space for progress…….

The month of September brings us a change of seasons - Spring. Spring is a metaphor for change. It is also a reminder to look after our earth. Pope Francis called us to pray for our earth.
      All powerful God,
you are present in the universe
and in the smallest of your creatures.
You embrace with your tenderness all that exists.
Pour out upon us the power of your love,
that we may protect life and beauty.
Fill us with your peace, that we may live
as brothers and sisters, harming no one.
      O God of the poor,
help us to rescue the abandoned
      and forgotten of this earth,
      so precious in your eyes.
      Bring healing to our lives,
that we may protect the world and not prey on it,
      that we may sow beauty,
      not pollution and destruction.
      Touch the hearts
of those who look only for gain
at the expense of the poor and the earth.
Teach us to discover the worth of each thing,
to be filled with awe and contemplation,
to recognize that we are profoundly united
      with every creature
as we journey towards your infinite light.
We thank you for being with us each day.
Encourage us, we pray, in our struggle,
      for justice, love and peace.
