We would like to acknowledge the traditional custodians of this land the Birri-Gubba Juru people and pay our respects to the elders past, present and future for they hold the memories, the traditions, the culture and hopes of Indigenous Australia.
Here we go - another busy term full of lots of learning and events !
School Renewal
On Thursday 18th and 19th of July we will welcome a panel of two principals and an external assessor to our school. For our School Renewal.
Catholic School Renewal is a process that enables school communities to examine the way in which they work together so that they can continue to develop and adapt their practice to better meet the needs of the children they serve.
In turn, the implementation of changes which emanate from such a process of Renewal is formulated by each school community into its School Renewal Strategic Plan and then Annual School Improvement Plans. Ongoing review must be part of the cycle of growth embodied in any such plan.
I thank staff, parents and students who have been involved in the last two terms of work, on reflecting on our processes and future goals. I will share the outcomes near the end of the term.
Athletics Carnival and High Jump Championships
Our annual Athletics carnival will be held on Wednesday 17th July at Home Hill High School. Buses will drop the students at the High School. I ask that any child who is driven to school please be dropped at the high school. We need parents to assist on the day - we would love your help ! We will try and place you with your child’s age group so you will be able to assist and watch your child compete.

Teaching and Learning Update
This term we will continue our work with the Phormes program. Phormes is a comprehensive, core literacy skills curriculum covering:
- Phonology through phonics
- Orthography- correct spelling
- Morphology & etymology
- Semantics and vocabulary
Staff completed a Three hour training update after school in Week 9 last term after school. At the end of term testing time teachers were very pleased with the growth in this area for each child.
The program also complements our Minilit and Maclit programs for students who may encounter difficulties in this area and also reading.
This term will also begin with staff starting to focus on the new Australian Curriculum Version 9 in the area of English. We have been working through the new Mathematics curriculum for the last two terms. During this time staff have been investigating and implementing quality assessment plans in the maths area. Teachers have been excited to see ways that they can assess in this area rather than the standard paper and pencil test area.
Digital Technologies will also be a focus this term.
