      Dear parents and friends,

      Semester 1 Reports

Semester reports will be available on Friday 21st June from Compass. If you have any concerns about your child’s report please contact the front office to make an appointment to meet with the teacher.

Please note that Townsville Catholic Education schools have made a change to year 2 reports from this year onwards. Previously, year 2 was graded using the A-E scale, the same as years 3-6. Starting this semester, year 2 will now be graded using the EX-AP scale, with Prep and Year 1. This is to align with ‘Queensland Curriculum and Assessment Authority’ Reporting Guidelines.

Prep - Year 2 Grading Scale:

Applying (AP) - your child has achieved above year level expectations

      Making Connections (MC)

Working With (WW) - your child has achieved year level curriculum that is being assessed

      Exploring (EX)

Becoming Aware (BA) - your child has achieved below year level expectations

      Year 3 - 6 Grading Scale:

A - your child has achieved above year level expectations

      B

C - your child has achieved year level curriculum that is being assessed

      D

E - your child has achieved below year level expectations

      Sip n Paint Thank you

Thank you to our CSP for hosting a great Sip & Paint night.  With 50 ladies in attendance it was exciting to see the artistic and not so artistic side come out in us all.

Next term the CSP will be organising the Deb of the Year event. I strongly encourage all families to be involved in helping out at this event. The money raised will help the school purchase resources for our students to enrich the learning environment.

      Great Barrier Reef Aquarium

Our school is supporting the community call to rebuild our beloved Great Barrier Reef Aquarium (formally Reef HQ). The Great Barrier Reef Aquarium is Australia’s national education centre of the Great Barrier Reef and across more than three decades has inspired and educated our students, built community pride and profile for our city, been a global leader in marine science, and generated more than $400M in economic contribution to our local economy.

With the Aquarium at risk of not reopening without full Federal Government funding, Townsville Enterprise has started a community petition and we call on our school community to take a minute support this >> Petition · Save Townsville's Reef HQ Aquarium - Australia · Change.org. Our nation’s greatest natural asset deserves a home to showcase our cities' world leading education and science.

TEL has also asked if any schools are willing to work with TEL in getting some social content (video pieces of students asking for Mr Prime Minister to save our Aquarium), please email Lisa Woolfe on lisa.woolfe@tel.com.au or phone 0437 236 917.

Sacred Heart of Jesus Feast Day

Last Sunday the Sacred Heart of Jesus Church in Ayr celebrated their feast day. It was a great event.  Prayer is a wonderful way to celebrate and join people together.

Administering Medication at School - Please note the changes

All students requiring prescription medication or over-the-counter medication (i.e., medications that have not been prescribed by a doctor) require their parent/ carer to complete a Consent to Administer Medication at School form that can be obtained from our Office.

For medication that is required for less than 30 days, this form can be completed and signed by the parent. For ongoing medication that is required for more than 30 days, the forms must be completed and signed by the doctor. Please note that a new form is required each school calendar year, so all existing consent forms are due for renewal.

All medication supplied to the school must have the pharmacist's label affixed, stating the prescribing doctor's name, the student name, and the dosage. Only medication that has been prescribed to the student by a medical practitioner and is labelled accordingly will be administered by school staff. Parents will need to attend the school to administer any other medications.

      Individual Health Plans/Emergency Plan
The school requires a copy of the Individual Health Plans/Emergency Plan students with anaphylaxis, asthma, diabetes and epilepsy, and other ongoing medical conditions where the medical practitioner has provided an action plan. These plans should be updated annually and a copy provided to the school at the beginning of each school calendar year or whenever there is a change in the student's medication or management. Please provide a copy of your student's updated plan when they return to school in 2024. These must be signed by a medical doctor.
