      Dear parents and friends,

Another two weeks have flown past ! Thank you to the CSP who organized the Disco last Friday night. I hear it was a lot of fun and was greatly enjoyed by all.

Over the next few weeks the teachers will be focussing on assessment and reporting. Reports will be available in Week 10 this term. Please don’t hesitate to contact your child’s teacher if you are concerned about their progress.

Administering Medication at School - Please note the changes

All students requiring prescription medication or over-the-counter medication (i.e., medications that have not been prescribed by a doctor) require their parent/ carer to complete a Consent to Administer Medication at School form that can be obtained from our Office.

For medication that is required for less than 30 days, this form can be completed and signed by the parent. For ongoing medication that is required for more than 30 days, the forms must be completed and signed by the doctor. Please note that a new form is required each school calendar year, so all existing consent forms are due for renewal.

All medication supplied to the school must have the pharmacist's label affixed, stating the prescribing doctor's name, the student name, and the dosage. Only medication that has been prescribed to the student by a medical practitioner and is labelled accordingly will be administered by school staff. Parents will need to attend the school to administer any other medications.

      Individual Health Plans/Emergency Plan

The school requires a copy of the Individual Health Plans/Emergency Plan students with anaphylaxis, asthma, diabetes and epilepsy, and other ongoing medical conditions where the medical practitioner has provided an action plan. These plans should be updated annually and a copy provided to the school at the beginning of each school calendar year or whenever there is a change in the student's medication or management. Please provide a copy of your student's updated plan when they return to school in 2024. These must be signed by a medical doctor.

Laudato Si' Week: Planting Seeds of Hope in our World

In 2023, Pope Francis released a ‘sequel’ to his famous letter called Laudate Deum which reminds us of the urgent need to act.

This year the theme of Laudato Si’ Week centres around ‘seeds of hope’. We are called to consider how we can plant and nurture seeds to be the hope that the world needs during this time of suffering for our planet (Laudate Deum, 2).

      A prayer for our earth

This prayer by Pope Francis appeared at the end of his 2015 encyclical Laudato Si'. It is for all who believe in God who is the all-powerful Creator.

      All powerful God,
you are present in the universe
and in the smallest of your creatures.
You embrace with your tenderness all that exists.
Pour out upon us the power of your love,
that we may protect life and beauty.
Fill us with your peace, that we may live
as brothers and sisters, harming no one.
      O God of the poor,
help us to rescue the abandoned
      and forgotten of this earth,
      so precious in your eyes.
      Bring healing to our lives,
that we may protect the world and not prey on it,
      that we may sow beauty,
      not pollution and destruction.
      Touch the hearts
of those who look only for gain
at the expense of the poor and the earth.
Teach us to discover the worth of each thing,
to be filled with awe and contemplation,
to recognize that we are profoundly united
      with every creature
as we journey towards your infinite light.
We thank you for being with us each day.
Encourage us, we pray, in our struggle,
      for justice, love and peace.

      Amen

We are now accepting enrolments for 2025!

      NQ Golf

Final results are in for the Queensland School Sport Golf State Championships. Oscar came 19th in the boys 10-12 age out of 39 for his gross score, and 10th out of 39 with his Nett score.
I was so very proud of Oscar as to how well he stayed focused and played his very best game. Throughout the 4 days his sportsmanship was also excellent.
This was sent to Oscar and the rest of the team from his manager.. From Jordan and myself, a massive thank-you to our players and their families for your efforts this week. We had mixed results, but each and every day all of our players continued to try their best and represented Northern with pride. It is fantastic to see the support our players receive from each other.

Just a reminder that School Fees are due on the 14th June 2024.  If you are experiencing difficulty in paying this, please remember that there are different options for you to pay and also please contact the school office.  Thank you to those parents who have done this.
