Principal & Teaching and Learning Update
Dear parents and friends,
Another year has flown by…it seems a very long time ago that our start of the year was disrupted by Covid.
I would like to thank all our families for their help and assistance over the years. St Colman’s School has blossomed into a wonderful welcoming, safe, friendly school where students are receiving a quality education.
Thank you to all those who have volunteered in the tuckshop, CSP, debutante balls and all the other amazing events that have happened in 2022. We appreciate your time and effort.
Thank you to the teachers and support officers who always go above and beyond in their work to ensure that every child is learning to the maximum.
We thank Mrs Siobhan Walsh and Mrs Courtney Anderson for all they have given to St Colman’s School over the time that they have been here. We wish Mrs Walsh all the best with her baby and look forward to getting lots of cuddles in 2023.
Well done to the students of St Colman’s School it has been wonderful to see you grow both socially and academically. We are very proud of you.

Religious Education News
An Advent wreath symbolizes our longing for the coming of Christ. The wreath is a circle of evergreen branches into which are set four candles. Traditionally three candles are violet and one is rose, but for violet or four white candles may also be used.
The wreath symbolizes many things. Evergreens signify God's enduring promise of redemption, evident like green branches in the midst of snow. The circle signifies our hope for the return of Christ, whose kingdom will have no end. The colors of the candles match the traditional colors of the vesture for the four Sundays of Advent. Violet garments signify our penitent hope for salvation. The rose color, which may be worn on Advent's Third Sunday, signals that the reason is nearly over -- joy is at hand!
The wreath's most luminous symbols is its growing light. One candle is lit on the First Sunday of Advent. two on the Second, three on the Third and all four on the fourth. In the northern hemisphere, Advent comes at a time when the days decrease to their shortest length. As the hours of darkness increase, we light more candles on the wreath. The wreath which symbolizes the coming of Christ, grows in intensity as the anniversary of Jesus' birth draws near. The Advent wreath may be used at home or at church.

Calling all students to come and be involved in Christmas Eve Mass!!
The parish of St Colman’s Church Home Hill has asked St Colman’s School to organize the Christmas Eve mass as a children’s mass.
I know many families will be away but if you are here can you please encourage your child to be involved in the mass.
If we get enough students we will:
- Students read the Prayers of the Faithful and readings
- Act out the nativity story
- Altar serving
- Offertory procession
- Playing percussion instruments
A practice will be held on Friday 23rd December at 3pm in the Church for 30 minutes (if you aren’t able to attend that is OK still come to the mass)
Can you please indicate if you are able to attend the mass and the practice. I look forward to seeing you at this very special event.
Please feel free to contact myself on kkeys@scshh.catholic.edu.au if you have any further questions. Please accept the RSVP through Compass.
